The Archivist — Personalized Leather Valet Tray

A desk has a character of its own. The objects placed on it — keys, a watch, something carried through the day — say something about how a person moves through the world. The Archivist is where those objects rest.

Cut from a single piece of full-grain vegetable-tanned Italian leather, folded and stitched at each corner by hand, it holds its shape through the quality of its construction rather than any internal support. Over time, the leather softens, the color deepens, and it becomes something that belongs specifically to the desk it sits on.

Personalization

The Archivist can be embossed with initials — up to four characters or a name on the interior base. Add your request at checkout. No additional cost. The Atelier de Rys mark is retained on the exterior.

Materials

The leather used in every Atelier de Rys piece is sourced from Tempesti SPA in Tuscany, Italy — a Leather Working Group Gold certified tannery and certified member of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale. Both certifications confirm traditional vegetable tanning methods, responsible production, and full traceability of materials.

Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather is the highest quality grade available. It is not corrected or coated — the surface retains the natural character of the hide and develops a patina with use that cannot be replicated artificially.

Leather care

Condition with a quality leather balm or cream applied sparingly with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture. The Archivist will darken slightly with age — this is the leather developing its character, not deteriorating.

If your piece is in Marine: use spray or airbrush application only. Marine Troncato is a highly absorbent leather — cloth or sponge application will cause uneven darkening.
